Turkey with lots a mashed potatoes and stuffing on top makes it edible. I large glass of water close by helps as well.

Hilariously true on many levels. I try to eat as little turkey as possible ( I only eat it to appease the cook as it makes me really sleepy)

My family prefers duck at thanksgiving. We buy one from the Asian supermarket already roasted so it saves oven space for the other dishes you want to cook. Protip: get the store to chop off the head because it was hard to cut off the first year we did this.

My favorite food at thanksgiving is cornbread dressing. I don’t really care what kind of meat we have as long as I can make dressing

I love turkey! Definitely good on thanksgiving day but personally, I prefer it the next day. Cold, with bbq sauce on it. 😋

Definitely wouldn’t be opposed to having turkey the main meat more then once a year. Then again I am polish so there’s always more then one main meat no matter what the occasion 😆 🇵🇱

Next day turkey is a good call. What other food is so universally accepted as a leftover? I like mine with hot sauce on a leftover roll…

Oh I disagree. We love to eat turkey when we serve it at our house!!! Anytime, really. But especially at holidays.

As long as it’s not injected or basted with butter (lactose intolerant, darn it!). And comes with a stuffing (although we call it “dressing”) accompaniment.

So nice not to have to ask, “And how would you like your meat today - rare, medium, medium rare, burnt to a leather-like consistency?”

Not to mention - but I will (mention it) turkey can be so very tasty & amazingly delicious, mouth watering even. The aromatic treat as it bakes, requiring hours of tender care to make it just right, crispy skin on the outside & TWO choices (light vs dark) of meat on the inside, juicy, wholesome & healthy, and yes...traditional.

Sometimes traditional is just the best. 😊

I love this defense of turkey! And mentioning “crispy skin” definitely gets you points on team fried-chicken…

Turkey is good; stuffing is delicious. I mean really wonderful. Plus, Thanksgiving is the only day I am likely to get mashed potatoes made from scratch that are also one of my favorites. And then there's pie.

Yeah, you can have all that with chicken, and for much of my childhood, we had chicken. We lived across the road from a chicken farm. Then in middle age I had a cardiac catheterization and got fed chicken for years until I rebelled. So chicken is off the menu for Thanksgiving. Beef brisket would probably be better, but no stuffing, so I don't know. And I heard a sermon once about how much preparation goes into it. And gluttony. So turkey and stuffing for us. Yum.

So turkey is a response to chicken-trauma…

Understandable. Grace extended. 🙏
